Coinciding with the Miami Art Basel 2017, Prada opens a store in the heart of the Miami Art District, and reveals a modern interpretation of its architectural concepts and design, new visual identity for the Prada universe.

The store follows the DNA of the brand and incorporates a series of contrasts in its layout. Influenced by the classic modernism of the 1960s and the combination of forms and materials inherent in the history of Brazilian design, this aesthetic is reinterpreted by Prada’s vision.

The space permeates the domestic sphere, furnished with original and exclusive pieces by Brazilian professionals, including Joaquim Tenreiro, considered the “father” of modern Brazilian design, and names like Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler, Jorge Zalszupin, José Zanine Caldas and Sérgio Rodrigues.

The works focused on the 1940s and 1950s are the central element and are fundamentally linked to a surrounding environment, enriched by noble materials and crafts. The layout of these pieces and the space as a whole, seeks intimacy, comfort and reality.

The outside of the room reflects the precision and straightforward fixations of the 1960s design. The façade is distinguished by a series of vertical blades grouped in large windows that, reacting to changes in natural light, reveal or hide the interior of the store. Inside, low relief walls echo the aesthetics of old Miami Beach: the illustrations were drawn from the prints of the Prada collections, highlighting a connection between these two different worlds.

The furniture, designed and produced with unique pieces by Tenreiro and the other artists, was the basis for defining the layout. Created from the Brazilian rosewood, each piece stands out, reconfiguring the space in a series of domestic environments, defined by the innovative design of the furniture, but which nevertheless harmonize. With a total of 650 square meters, this new and distinct Prada’s space offers ready-to-wear pieces, handbags, accessories and footwear, both male and female.
